Adenotrex: Don't Believe The Hype

Written by Jack Woodrup for VerticalJumping.com

Adenotrex is a recent addition to the supplement market. It makes some pretty amazing claims about what it can do, but then again, given who is promoting it, outlandish claims are par for the course. In this article we take a closer look at this product to give you the full low down about whether or not to spend your hard earned cash.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

When we first reviewed this product we received a few complaints from disgruntled purchasers who were being billed by the company even after cancelling their subscriptions. This seemed odd to us so we put up a request to people to let us know if they felt they were having billing issues with Adenotrex.

Well this opened the flood gates. It was amazing the number of people who felt that they had been ripped off. A few people having billing issues here and there may be explained as teething problems, but when so many people are saying the same thing it starts to smell of outright scam.

Our advice, save yourself some hassle, avoid this product like the plague. If this warning isn't enough to convince you, then maybe our full review will. Keep reading to find out more.

What Does Adenotrex Claim To Do?

According to the claims by the manufacturer, it will help you achieve "a measurable increase in vertical leap with no effort...". What does this mean. It means they are claiming, and these are their words, not ours

"you can improve your vertical jump by 10 inches or more Without Unsafe Programs, Platform Shoes, Dangerous Drugs... Or Any Physical Effort At All!"

Seriously, we aren't making this up. This is what they are claiming their product can do. If your Bulls#*t detector wasn't already on high alert, it should be. If the above claims weren't outlandish enough try this quote also from their website:

"we advise that you consult your physician and coach to determine how fast your vertical should increase"

So basically they want you to go ask your coach or doctor - hey if I take this new Adenotrex supplement and do no training how much do you think my vertical will improve? Gee, I wonder what they will say.

What Is In It?

The active ingredients in Adenotrex are broken down into 2 categories. The first is the Adenotrexallinion-5 Compound which is made up of Kre-Alkalyn Creatine, Taurine, D-Ribose, and the real kicker Alpha GPC. Per tablet you get 715mg of this proprietary blend although how much of each ingredient is not shown.

All of these substances by the way are not new or exclusive to Adenotrex. Kre Alkalyn creatine is a form of creatine that is more bio-available to the human body than other forms. In other words pound for pound your body doesn't break it down in the digestive system as much as others.

Taurine is basically a stimulant that will get you pumped for your activities. It is also one of the main ingredients of Red Bull (along with funnily enough - caffeine).

D-Ribose is an important carbohydrate which plays a vital role in the ATP production cycle. The major benefit of ribose is to accelerate recovery by providing an additional energy reserve during intense exercise. Ribose is involved in the production of power during short burst movements such as vertical jumping.

The last major ingredient is Alpha GPC. This has been shown to increase HGH, improve mental focus, improve liver function, increase strength, and improve balance and co-ordination.

Don't get us wrong, these ingredients are all quite good and should all help improve the intensity and effort you put into your training. Will they provide 10 inch improvements from no effort? Um, no!

.

The second part of the formula is what they call to Lubrifusion. Lubrifusion is made up of MSM and Phellodendron Bark. The inclusion of these two substances is designed to help reduce inflammation of the joints. I guess this will be caused by all that jumping you will be doing in your "no training".

Anything Else to Know?

Elite Performance Laboratories that produces Adenotrex make some extraordinary claims about the effectiveness of their product. Personally we would be EXTREMELY surprised to see anyone use this product, do no training, and gain even 2 inches.

The price per bottle (a 1 month supply) is $67, but if you buy 2 bottles it is $97. Not surprisingly, the manufacturers say you never need to cycle it and you should always take more wherever possible for faster gains. Their suggested usage is if you train twice a day such as practice in the morning, and weights in the evening, take a double dose. Doing so however will mean your $67 bottle no longer lasts 1 month.

Coffee, chocolate, beer and cola lovers should also note that if you are taking this supplement the manufacturers suggest you need to completely eliminate caffeine and phosphoric acid from your diet. Apparently there are chemicals in these products that can completely destroy the active ingredients in Adenotrex.

To us this seems a tad too convenient. You have just one cup of coffee, one chocolate bar or one beer, and the product stops working. Oh, and don't get a cough either because cold and flu medications also make this product useless.

Seriously folks, who are these guys kidding? If a small amount of chocolate can render Adenotrex useless how do they expect it to survive the digestive process. This has to be the worlds worst designed product. It is also possibly the only supplement ever invented that just so happens to not work when combined with anything that anyone enjoys.

Also interesting to consider with regards to the sensitivity of this product and exposure to things like chocolate and coffee is that all the ingredients in Adenotrex (creatine, taurine etc) are NOT sapped out of your body when they are made by other manufacturers. As we noted earlier, many energy drinks combine taurine and caffeine together without the taurine breaking down.

Another thing we found to be hilarious is the recommendation from Elite Performance Labs that you take a minimum of 2 cycles to see substantial gains. Each cycle is 3 months long. I don't know about you but I sure as hell wouldn't want to risk taking 6 months off training and just popping pills to increase my vertical. I don't know, maybe it is just me, but this sounds like A REALLY DUMB THING TO DO!

Further claims that are just laughable are the cumulative effect it apparently has. The more often you take it, and the more you take the faster your gains. Unless you happen to have a cup of tea in which case it is a waste of time.

The fun doesn't stop there. They suggest that taking Adenotrex whilst injured maybe 'dangerous' to you because you will build up so much explosive power that you might hurt yourself when you return to playing or training as you would be unaccustomed to it. Riiiiiiiiiight. Oddly on their website they promote the guy who increased his vertical by 10 inches with NO training. Obviously he didn't have too much trouble getting accustomed to his new found powers.

Another thing that never really sat well with us as we read the promotional material was the constant mentioning of the fact that they were based in Beaverton, Oregon. For those of you who don't know the significance of this it is that Nike is also based there. I know in some of the pre-sale emails we received from Luke Lowry he seemed very keen to hype up that he had been doing "top secret" research in Beaverton, Oregon.

To us, and, remember, this is just our opinion, this seemed like he was trying to use geographic association to somehow imply that the work on Adenotrex was in some way associated with Nike. Maybe it is just a coincidence, but the website does mention several times that they are based in Beaverton, Oregon as if it is an important point of distinction. It looks like we might have to add another item to our marketing tricks article.

No More Money Back Guarantee

When this product first hit the market it came with a 100%, no questions asked money back guarantee. This is no longer there. It has been replaced with a very complicated and clearly difficult refund policy (much like the ridiculous refund policy of the Vertical Project). Now if the alarm bells were not already ringing loud and clear, this really has to be the final straw.

You see people only offer a no questions asked guarantee when they are very confident that they won't have a high rate of return. Companies like Adenotrex and the Vertical Project make their money back offers with many strings attached and with terms so utterly ridiculous that it becomes virtually impossible to actually make a claim.

Even in products that are not that great there is usually only a small percent of people who bother to make the request for their money back. The fact that in less than 4 months they dropped this from their site suggest to me that they are getting plenty of requests for refunds (Actually just from the emails I have received - I know that many people are requesting refunds!).

If so many people are taking the time to ask for their money back you know this product isn't doing what it claims.

There is just so many highly dubious claims made by these guys it is hard to work out how anyone takes them seriously. Obviously we all want to jump higher, but Adenotrex is certainly not the way to do it.

One more thing, PLEASE DO NOT ASK US TO CANCEL YOUR ORDERS FOR YOU. WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS COMPANY. OUR ADVICE IS TO CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY DIRECTLY AND SEE IF THEY CAN SORT IT OUT FOR YOU.

Conclusion

In our article on supplements we discussed products being marketed as "vertical jump enhancers". In that article we expressed our view that most of these products were just creatine, nitric oxides or something similar. On the surface of it, Adenotrex, doesn't look any different from the rest of them.

Although the exact dosage of the most useful ingredient, Alpha GPC, isn't labelled we suspect if you bought an Alpha GPC specific product such as Biosynergy Alpha GPC, you would get a lot more bang for your buck.

The sheer ridiculousness of the claims made by the manufacturers and fact that Luke Lowry is involved gets our spidey sense tingling, and not in a good way. We would suggest to anyone thinking of purchasing Adenotrex that it is very much a case of buyer beware.
