They Will Lock You In

by Adam
(Australia)

The product itself is good. However, and this is a big however, Luke locks you into his membership program and I have not been yet able to get out.

Here's how he does it. He recently created a free 14 day trial period. You pay $7.95 to "try the vertical project for free". They say the 7.95 is to pay for the setup of your login codes, but the truth is this technique aims to capture your credit card details. The seemingly justified reason makes people more willing to buy.

Now comes the problem. I contacted their customer support asking them to cancel my trial period and cancel my membership before the trial period was over. I get this as part of a cut-and-paste email from them (I bet the have to use it a lot):

"When you claimed a free trial placement, you acknowledged that on Day 15 - we would not charge you the regular price of $495, or the old price of $297, but that we would charge you the steeply-discounted, trial-rate of just $97.00, and not a minute before your free 14 days are up.

"Another note: our customer agreement and refund policy is geared towards protecting the buyer, so that's why it's strictly performance and results-based!

"In essense, you are asking to guarantee nothing and our policy is clearly created to prevent this."

It goes on trying to sell you further on the program. Overall, in other words, there is no free period. There is no trial period. This is another one of Luke's BS marketing techniques. You have to pay the full price of the program after 14 days.

Luke lies, but things get worse. He now has you in his monthly membership program where you get billed every month. He's very subtle about this. He makes it seem the membership is easy to cancel, but his customer support will ignore all contact you make with them. I have not been able to get a response from his crappy customer support other than that cut-and-paste email they sent to my refund request.

Don't even bother asking for advice with anything to do with the program. That too will fall on deaf ears.

I've purchased nearly every product Luke has recommended from Adenotrex, Jumpsoles, and the vertical jump bible, and I also purchased version 2 of TVP, and yet he has the ignorance to treat a valued customer like pure crap.

Great product, disgusting customer service, and extremely deceptive marketing tactics. Be careful of Luke. I'm never buying another thing from him and I will tell people to stay away from him. Go to someone else who shares vertical jump information that cares about you - Luke doesn't care.

VerticalJumping.com Response:

Hi Adam,

I am very sorry to hear of your troubles. Luke has been involved with this type of thing before with Adenotrex. When that came out I received an avalanche of emails asking me how they could get out of the recurring billing.

I actually had to put a note up stating that we were not involved with them and had no way of getting people out fo their clutches. It is a distrubing trend from TVP related products and I hope you manage to escape soon. My advice - call your credit card company. Repeatedly.

I can't freaking believe that luke actually sell it at $23.77 now? wtf? All other people including me had wasted all our money on this shit whether its $97,$197,$297..
He always claim that the deadline of the price will close or go up but instead it was actually still there for a few weeks and the price goes down from the trail price $197 to $23.77 now

Same Thing Happened to Me
by:

The same thing happened to me but I found an e-mail Luke sent me that claims it is free(I know which it isn't) and that if you don't like it return it and you get a complete refund. Well I just brought this up to their customer service and they agreed to refund it all but first they took it up with their "manager" which I believe to be Luke but I can't confirm that. Anyway, their "manager" denied me a refund and said I wasn't breaking policy. I just said BS and I brought it up with my Credit Card Company and they refused to pay it all.

VerticalJumping.com Response: Unfortunately from the emails I have received difficulty in getting refunds or cancellation of recurring billing is a common theme for people who deal with Luke Lowery and associated companies. Good work on getting the credit card company involved. Often it is the only way.
