TVP - Definitely not worth the money

by JP
(Maryland)

I bought this program several years ago, and while I didn't do the whole program, I did stick with it long enough (4 weeks) that I should have seen some results if the program is as good as advertised.

If there was any change in my vertical, it was minimal. And while the program sounds ok on paper, to actually do it in a gym is very inconvenient. For example, doing deadlift isometric holds, I had to set one bar with over 300 pounds on the squat rack, then use another bar to do the isometric holds lifting up against the pins in the rack.

It was either that or load a bar to over 400 lbs (a supramaximal weight) and then unload it and reload it each time I moved to the next higher position. Also, the workouts take over an hour to complete. My advice is this: If you're looking for a good jump development program, get the VJB.

The author comes across as a likable guy and gave great customer service when I had issues with moving the program onto a new computer. The VJB is actually much more individualized than TVP, relies on sound training principles, and is much cheaper.

Although I didn't follow the VJB program to the letter, I did see decent gains following the principles outlined by the author (and I was able to have a life besides training).
