Paused jump squats are a terrific exercise for improving explosive strength.

These are fairly straight forward to do. Select a suitable load, set your feet and drop to the bottom position of the jump. Hold that position for a count of 3 and then jump. Land as softly as you can. Reset and repeat.

The pause removes the stretch shorten cycle from the jump and helps develop explosive strength.

The paused  jump squat can be loaded in all manner of ways including a barbell, dumbbells, a weight vest, sandbags, or as shown in the video some weight plates.
